STI: PopStats Case Studies

The best way to understand the power behind the PopStats data set is to see it in action. The following cases do just that.

Loudoun County Virginia is one of the fastest growing counties in the US. PopStats' estimate showed this to be true long before the US Census July 2001 was released in May of 2002. How did our estimate compare to the Bureau's? A difference in estimates of about 1,000 people. In addition, our estimate showed the Dulles corridor to be the "hot-bed" for all the growth. Take a look at this report from the Washington Airports Task Force.

Here's an excellent an example of some of the specialty data that makes up our estimate. During the Afghan conflict we showed group quarters showing a huge drop in the Norfolk region as armed services personnel were sent from that area to engage in the impending conflict. Then in 2002 their return to US shores.

Since STI: PopStats is quarterly in nature, animated studies are now practical. Can you guess where the growth is on a national basis. Write down your guess and then take a look ... how did you do?
